Late in the day on July 18, the famous Alco S1 Shop switcher, #5, was fired up for a trip over the entire former Saratoga & North Creek Railroad property. The move was made to 'rescue' the privately-owned ex-D&H Alco RS-36 5019 and a passenger car at North Creek, NY. The rescue operation is crossing the Sacandaga River just south of Hadley, NY at nearly the stroke of midnight. The doors on the loco hood had been open for subsequent shots and not until last shot were they closed.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
