"New Switcher for NY Container Terminal"
The New York Container Terminal Express Rail crew crosses Western Ave while pulling a cut of stacks towards Arlington Yard in Staten Island, New York. The crew is utilizing GMTX EMD SW1500 #173, which is on long term lease due to the unreliability of the company's "Genset" locomotive; CLCX #2058. 173 was built in 1969 for the Longview, Portland & Northern Railroad; a 3 mile long shortline which mainly serviced an International Paper plant on the Oregon Coast. When the plant closed in 1999, the locomotive sat in limbo until eventually being sold to GMTX for leasing services.
