Remarks & Notes |
A.E. Staley's leased Black River & Western SW1200 sits in the yard awaiting her next assignment. A good portion of the facility which once served as backdrop has been demolished and it appears space adjacent to this location is now being used to store freight cars. The whole of the World Wide Web seems a bit short on any current news in regards to the sugar refinery company. The "Augustus Eugene Staley" company was sold to a British company in 1988 and has been known as Tate & Lyle Ingredients Americas LLC since 2005. The company produces a range of starch products for the food, paper and other industries; primarily high fructose corn syrup at this location. Seems the township had at one time shown a desire to demolish the plant in its entity to make way for residential development but a good portion still stands and seems operational. Click here to see what no longer stands. The switcher is former CP No. 1259. |
