The Manitou & Pikes Peak Railway (MPP) is a cog, or rack, tourist railway that runs 8.9 miles from Manitou Springs, CO up 7,600ft to the summit of Pikes Peak (14,115 ft) with an average grade 16.3%. With a maximum grade of 25% and the minimum of 7.6, the MPP has highest altitude of any railway in North America and is one of only three cog railways remaining in the United States.
