The brandnew POLARIS cogwheel trains Bhe 4/6 # 3093 and # 3092 of the Gornergratbahn (GGB) left the mountain station (3089 meter a.s.l.) short time ago as train CC 252 down to Zermatt. The new trains, built by StadlerRail in 2022 and designed by Pininfarina, are in timetabled service since a few days now. On the right is the highest mountain of Switzerland (border peak with Italy), the Dufourspitze with 4634 meter a.s.l. In the foreground you can see the former way of track and site of the old mountain station of the Gornergratbahn, used from 1898 (inauguration of the line) and 1909. Since 1942, the railway is circulating during the winter too and is part of the Zermatt ski area.
