Remarks & Notes |
Lattice Structure.
A Coney Island-bound (F) train is seen above Sheepshead Bay Road on the Culver Line of the NYC Subway. Between here and Avenue X Station, the elevated structure is an older style of el construction, featuring built-up lattice stringers (longitudinal members) and bents (perpendicular members) rather than the solid beams seen at right. This is the only place in the Subway system where this type of beam is used, and if replacement is ever warranted they will likely not be replaced in-kind due to the added expense of this type of construction. |
