Herzog ditching train HZGX 173 moves west in the siding at Crescent, Colorado, on April 24, 2007. Union Pacific has maintenance-of-way people along with the Herzog train, to do some tunnel work on the Moffat Tunnel Subdivision just west of Crescent. The hi-rail will soon have to clear the main for an empty and a loaded coal train before finally getting track and time after a total of four trains to clear. The mountains are getting pounded with this spring snowstorm, and as it turns out, they scrapped the Herzog work that day and Crescent ended up dealing with a total of 24 inches of snow instead.
