In 1951 the New York, New Haven & Hartford purchased ten Mack FCD Type 2 railbuses, only to turn around and sell most of the shortly after. Sperry Rail Services 402 was one of those, converted into a track inspection vehicle. Back on February 17, 1979, I was railfanning in Teaneck, New Jersey when I heard someone talking to a Sperry Rail Vehicle or talking about a Sperry Rail Vehicle on the scanner. I had my mother's Plymouth Valiant, which I wasn't allowed to take out of Bergen County, so I suspect I was a bad son (doubt I found a payphone and asked permission to drive into New York State). I located the Sperry in Haverstraw New York, on the Conrail River Line, and grabbed three photos of it.
From a hint of "Bee" (NKP 765), colorful "Bees" (KCS), "Bees" w/ "attitude", to "Bees" that "sting" your eyes, in their own way they have "Bee" on display! Equipment that "Buzzes" with Yellow & Black colors! ("Bees" can still "Bee" entering this "hive"!)
