Remarks & Notes
Although traffic on the legendary Tennessee Pass is dead, the line is not gone. The Rio Grande's Tennessee Pass line was the highest active mainline railroad mountain pass in the United States until the last train ran in 1997. Once the Rio Grande Railroad was purchased by Union Pacific the line was deemed redundant and mothballed.
