| The Swanton Pacific was in operation Sunday as part of Al Smith Day at the Swanton Pacific Ranch. Smith, founder of Orchard Supply Hardware acquired the locomotives from the Overfair Railroad, part of the 1915 World's Fair in San Francisco and built a railroad on his ranch to run them. At his death, Smith willed the ranch and the railroad to Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo and they now operate the facility. For more information http://sprr.calpoly.edu/index.html |
