This wonderful, steam-wreathed apparition appeared just after sunrise as 'Duke of Gloucester' thundered eastbound away from Addingford cutting near Horbury Junction. About two miles behind the train lies Healey Mills marshaling yard where 'The Duke' had watered. For the entirity of those two miles, the gradually increasing crescendo of the approaching train will linger long in my memory, but not as long as the sight! A local youth, out walking his dog watched in awe - "bloody 'ell" he merely said. It seemed to suffice.
