With the fire dropped, and the locomotive tucked safely in Stall #1 of the shop building, Engineer Joe puts a cap (literally!) on the day's steam operations. Although they will be running again the following morning, WW&F engine crews do not bank their fire overnight. There is no need to. The water will stay hot overnight and with a fresh fire built before dawn, the little 12-tonner will be back at operating pressure in no time.
