Remarks & Notes |
Three SP AC4400s lead a loaded coal train east out of Tennessee Pass Tunnel. This was one of the more productive trains running over the pass before its closure later in the year. It consisted of (mostly) NS hoppers which hauled taconite west to Provo, UT and then brought Utah coal back east. This particular train had a 3-4-2 locomotive configuration. The four unit manned mid-train helpers were cut out on the siding here, so the train would continue east with five units. The expense of running trains such as this over the pass ultimately led to the line being mothballed by the UP. |
