Splitting the old NYC signals, the engineer on NS 31K doesn't waste any time putting the hammer down. A pair of SD60's, the leader still being in HLCX yellow, provide the power. Eventually, the 6518 will be rebuilt and repainted, but for now, it makes for a cool sight. This train will take the Kankakee Line to Streator, IL., where it will then get onto the old Santa Fe Transcon for the run to Kansas City, KS.
