On July 15th, 1993, as Amtrak was taking the Swedish X2000 (also known as X2) trainset around the country, it spent the day on display in Los Angeles, California. These trains, constructed by Kalmar Verkstad in Kalmar, Sweden, operated on Sweden's Statens Järnvägar (Swedish State Railways), feature tilting technology for high speed operation. On the platforms of Los Angeles Union Station, SJ control car 2511 stands in stark contrast to unstreamlined Southern Pacific EMD SD40T-2 8323, which was on the point of Amtrak's train #1, the Sunset Limited, and even the blocky end of Metrolink Bombardier cab car 603 behind it.
