This is the boiler and cab of locomotive No. 38, former Huntingdon & Broad Top Mountain Railroad, which was built by Alco in 1927. It is seen here anchored to a flat car in WMSR's Ridgeley yard behind the shop back in September of 2015. The locomotive last ran at the Knox and Kane in NW Pennsylvania. It was damaged in a fire after the railroad had closed following the demise of the famed Kinzu Viaduct, its main attraction and terminus, in a July 2003 tornado. Alan Maples purchased the locomotive at auction on 10/10/2008 and had the tender and running gear shipped to Everett's Clayburg shop while forwarding the boiler to the WMSR for restoration work as time and resources would permit. Preoccupied with other projects, the locomotive sat here, in storage, until 2/25/16 when it was finally shipped to Everett where the restoration to operation will be completed.
