Remarks & Notes
We Have All Been Here Before

When many railfans think of the Southern Pacific, they think of dirty, run-down locomotives. But this was generally not the case with the SP - not until after the failed Southern Pacific Santa Fe merger, at least. But, the mighty SP did have a lot of trackage that passed through scenic areas, such as Donner Pass, the crossing of the Tehachapi Mountains, Oregon's Siskyous, the Coast Line along the Pacific Ocean, or places such as Ontario, California. Cotton Belt SD45T-2 9393 leads an eastbound intermodal train through the typically delightful scenery found in southern California's "Inland Empire" on June 13, 1985. (I am happy to report, however, that many of this places have been cleaned up since this photograph was taken! Sadly, though, part of that clean-up included line-side fencing and the elimination of many grade crossings, making photography more difficult.)
