The morning light spills over the hillsides and onto the town of Fillmore as the Fillmore & Western's pride of the fleet, No. 14, builds pressure in the yard prior to shuffling over to its train for the day. Built in 1913, the 104-year-old steam locomotive has continued to operate on special occasionally and in a few TV spots...most recently a commercial for Apple that showed it sporting a fake spark-arrester stack and freight train. Off to the left, one of the railroad's two F-units shows off its relatively new red paint that was applied during the unit's feature in a YouTube video. With Halloween giving way to Thanksgiving now, it won't be long until the 101 returns to its usual blue and cream paint scheme.
