Remarks & Notes
Glenbrook on the table. Here's a sepia image of Carson & Tahoe Lumber & Fluming Company Locomotive #1 "Glenbrook", which is positioned for turning on the gallows-style, "Armstrong" turntable at the Nevada State Railroad Museum. Glenbrook is a 36" gauge, Baldwin 2-6-0, built in 1875 to haul lumber from Glenbrook, Nevada on the east shore of Lake Tahoe to Spooner Summit, in the Carson Range. Pretty much put out to pasture in 1890, she was stored for many years by her owners, until she was donated to the Nevada State Museum in the 1943. After being displayed outdoors for decades she eventually ended up a the Nevada State Railroad Museum, but it would be decades more before anything would be done with her. Once the museum finished the McKeen Car restoration, work on the Glenbrook began in earnest. Although significant portions of her boiler required replacement, much of the original fabric was preserved and she was made operational in 2015. The result was nothing short of a Smithsonian-quality piece....except this piece runs several times a year.
