Standing on the crumbling abutments of Milwaukee Road’s impressive curved bridge over the Missouri River, we watch a distant storm skirt the ghost town of Lombard, Montana, at sunset on June 29, 2016. A soft burble of flowing water in the Missouri River is replaced by the rumble of an eastbound BNSF grain train. The rear DPU blurs by the abandoned monument to the Milwaukee’s Pacific Extension—a railroad built too late and forsaken too early.
For the train and storm chaser. Trains with thunderstorms, dark clouds, rain, lightning, hurricanes - tropical storms, funnel clouds, storm light, rainbows, and snow storms.
