SW1500s were a common sight a Boyles Yard in the 1970s, some in the newer, simplified L&N switcher scheme, and some in this earlier scheme, with slanted letters and numbers in yellow, outlined in black. Oh... and yellow scallops (or pine trees, as some prefer) on the nose. IMO, the new scheme was inferior, with the yellow letters and numbers - without black outlines - disappearing into the gray background.
