Remarks & Notes
PURCELL OK Sept 21 1980 — Santa Fe U23b 6309 is on the headend of train 445. A crew has been called and will soon take the train south. In the right middle on the second track from the left a northbound train departs. Another northbound train awaits a crew on the third track from the left. GE delivered the unit in July 1970. After Santa Fe retired the unit it went back to GE in September 1988 for the Super 7 program. It was scrapped in Erie PA on an unknown date. My photo

Aside from Warbonnets and Chiefs, Santa Fe was a workaday railroad like any other. This album showcases that less glamorous--but no less vital--side of the famous ATSF.

Railroading in the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, basically anything but the 2000s.
