When traffic was heavy through Fremont, NE one could often see trains parked east of town awaiting a crew change to take them on toward Boone, IA and beyond. A pair of eastbounds patiently wait. The 9462 has a C&NW Dash8-40C and an SD40-2 and the C&NW 8521 has a Rio Grande SD40T-2 and GP40 in the consist. This was not as disadvantageous for westbound traffic as it might seem, as those trains usually arrived via the former C&NW line via Blair, NE that joined the mainline a couple miles farther to the west.
