Nevada Northern's Alco #93 charges west toward Keystone as part of the museum's "Locomotive Rental" program. This early morning light run took place a couple of hours before the scheduled start of the first winter photo shoot and actually produced some of the best images of the entire weekend. With the low-angle sun peeking out of the puffy clouds and the chilly temperatures producing an ample exhaust plume, this hefty freight engine put on quite the show as she traversed the bleak, desert terrain. Unfortunately a bearing problem, which developed during this run, would confine the engine to yard duty for both of this year's photo shoots. For myself and one other lucky photographer, our decision to show up early and chase was the best decision we made all weekend! Moral of the story: Take full advantage of every opportunity!
