Remarks & Notes
When it was completed in 1908, it was the world's largest train station and covered more ground than any other structure in the US. Though it fell on hard times leading up to its closure in 1978, a $160 million dollar revitalization program ensured that this structure was returned to its former glory for a 1988 reopening. Now, 32 million visitors pass through Union Station, more than any other site in DC. This wide angle shot captures the station in the current form, hosting Amtrak and DC metro trains as well as over 160 vendors while three American flags out front welcome visitors to the nations capital.
