Well, hello there old friend! After over 9 months of hibernation, Canadian National Switcher #7470 emerges from her "den" in the Conway Scenic Roundhouse to the delight of steam enthusiasts all around the Northeast. For a number of good reasons, the old gal hasn't worked much over the last several years, but the folks up at Conway Scenic had promised she'd run during the fall foliage season in 2010 and on the first day of the line's annual Railfan Weekend, they brought her out in grand style. The steamer pulled 3 excursions to Conway each day, as well as one up to Bartlett. As an added bonus for the photographers present, she ran all trips on the first day facing south (railroad east), opening up a number of photo opportunities that don't normally exist on this line. If you want to see steam with some great mountain scenery and fall foliage, head on up to North Conway and check her out!
