Deck the halls! The Essex Depot is all aglow with Christmas trimmings as the Valley Railroad operates its North Pole Express Trains for the 2015 Holiday Season. There are 4 such trains per night, 6 nights a week, from mid-November until the weekend after Christmas. The trains operate in pairs, with the first pair of departures at 5 PM and 5:30 PM. The second pair goes at 7 PM and 7:30 PM. Things get pretty busy on this platform in the 30 minutes or so leading up to each departure. Interestingly however, things get pretty darn quiet in between the two evolutions, as this 5:53 PM capture proves. Not a soul to be seen.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
