I am sure that this rail vehicle is certainly the most exotic one that has ever been posted on Railpictures.net. The local inhabitants use this slide-board to slide down the Ambarawa railway without a train. The principle of this slide-board is very simple: A wood board and a few bearings. The cart is guided by the rack and not by the rails. As I have been informed by Kevin Madore, track workers at the Mt.Washington Cog Railway used to use those back in the late 1800s to reach the bottom of the mountain when their shifts were done....sometimes at great speed. They were finally banned when there was a fatal accident. They were referred to as "The Devil's Shingles" at Mt. Washington.
