Passengers on Amtrak train 14, the northbound Coast Starlight, have just ridden around the Tehachapi Loop, and the train is seen here crossing the bridge at the east end of Woodford, on California's Tehachapi Pass. The Starlight is detouring due to bridge work on its normal Coast Line route, and has just met its southbound counterpart at Marcel, about five miles back.
Running daily between Seattle and Los Angeles, this train offers running alongside the Pacific Ocean and through the Cascade Mountains. It has been one of Amtrak's long-distance success stories.
