This unique switcher which doesn't appear to have a roadnumber or any type of reporting markings, spends a rainy January afternoon indoors at the Port Amherst locomotive shops. The small company, known best for their tug boats which own the Kanawha River, also, hosts a handful of rare, unique engines, such as the one above. At one time, this locomotive appears that it may have belonged to the Cambell's Creek Railroad, a small operation that now sits on the property of Port Amherst. The CCRR was abandoned and discontinued all operations in 1961, due to a massive flood. Information provided by a Port Amherst employee who was also generous enough to allow us to get this photo.
This is dedicated (with permission) to the skilled and gifted photographer - Chase Gunnoe - who regularly posts and is on staff with RP. I believe he deserves a gallery showcasing his remarkable photos. This is for you Chase! (More great photos to come!)
