Remarks & Notes
Amtrak "Southwest Chief" Train 4 negotiates a telephone pole-free curve on ex-AT&SF northward near Levy, N.M. on May 29, 2003. Uhh, how many P42's does it take to power this train? Doubtlessly excess units being sent back eastward. This lonesome railroad has the most semaphore signals still in use in the USA as BNSF considers its future and the possible rerouting of this Amtrak train through the panhandle of Texas on BNSF's main transcon route.

The Southwest Chief is an under-appreciated train. The New Mexico scenery is like none other in the entire system.
