| Shortly after LTV announced it was closing its mine and pellet plant in northern Minnesota an employee spray painted "For Sale" on one of the ore cars. Unfortunately a sale would never come and 1400 employees found themselves without work the following year. The massive pellet plant is on the hill and a pair of BN covered hoppers have delivered bentonite clay from Wyoming (used as a binder in making taconite pellets). |
