The Empire Builder: Amtrak train No. 7, the Empire Builder, rounds the curve just east of West Glacier, Mont. on the evening of June 26, 2011. That summer, flooding in North Dakota caused the Builder to run on a shortened route and western half terminated in Shelby, Mont. Although an issue for passengers, it meant the "Baby Builder," as it was called by railfans, was often on time that summer.
