Although I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Yorkshireman, for sheer tranquil beauty the glorious valley of the River Dee in Denbighshire, Wales has few rivals. When the elusive October sun appears, coupled with Autumn colours at their best, the only element missing for perfection is a recreated mixed freight headed by a suitably begrimed locomotive as of yore.
