Remarks & Notes
September 12, 2001 -- I was in Canada and the day before terrorists struck the U.S. There were almost no trains that ran on the Cartier on 9/11 and I spent most of the day in remote Quebec trying to get a U.S. radio station on the car radio to see what was happening. My wife wanted me home, but I had no idea if the borders were open. A check with the Cartier indicated that only one train would go north on the 12th, so I pushed myself out the motel door and headed for Charles siding. With no planes in the sky, there was complete quiet until the chugging of the MLW power became evident. Set the camera -- click! Now time to go home....
