Steam Along the Middle Fork: Norfolk & Western No. 611 is not the only streamlined 4-8-4 that brings crowds trackside. Southern Pacific Daylight No. 4449 has been pleasing fans since it was first restored in the 1970s. The locomotive has been out-of-service since 2012 but is expected to be back on the rails later this year. SP No. 4449 is seen here along the Middle Fork of the Flathead River near West Glacier, Montana on October 17, 2009, on the locomotive's last major trip, when it ran from Oregon to Michigan and back for Train Festival 2009.
