Remarks & Notes
While afternoon storms roll onto the plains, a westbound Union Pacific freight pounds upgrade at mile 14.5 west of Leyden, Colorado, on April 14, 2001. Rio Grande EMD SD40T-2 No. 5345 leads the train, which includes UP No. 8621 (former D&RGW No. 5364), Rio Grande No. 5390 and UP GE AC4400CW No. 7093. Interestingly, the 5345 still has its Mars lights and class lights intact, in addition to more recently-added ditchlights.
