Yes, there really was a Cascade green Burlington Northern No. 1. Before BN assigned No. 1 to an executive F9 (officially labeled F9-2) locomotive rebuilt in 1990, BN had a former Great Northern NW2 constructed in 1939, and rebuilt into a NW12 in 1975 numbered 1. In September 1984, the spiffy-looking switcher was located at Minneapolis Junction, Minnesota.
