Remarks & Notes |
Before the Silverliners and Arrows
Built between 1915 and 1936, the Pennsylvania Railroad’s MP54 MU cars were the backbone of commuter service in PRR’s electrified region until Silverliner and Arrow cars showed up in the 1960’s and 1970’s. The last ones in revenue service were retired by SEPTA in 1981, although three used by the Washington Terminal for crew shuttle service may have lasted a little longer.
Here four of the survivors stand on a siding on the Octoraro Railroad in Avondale, Pennsylvania. The ultimate disposition of these cars is unclear.
