Remarks & Notes
Heavy Stuff

With the sprawling General Electric complex in Schenectady as a major on-line shipper, the Delaware & Hudson had to maintain a fleet of special-use flat cars. That fleet included several of these four-truck platforms to distribute the weight of extremely heavy loads over eight evenly-spaced axles. The cribbing also suggests the bulk of the load, which appears to be a generator rotor laden with copper.
