I waited here with several friends for what seemed to be an eternity, as little 315 struggled up the 4% with her string of freight cars. With the late evening sun fading fast behind a deck of cirrus clouds near the horizon, I thought the sweet light would be pretty much gone by the time the train hit the dirt road crossing in front of me. Even one minute prior to arrival, this shot looked like a complete bust. Then, just as the train appeared and approached the crossing, the sun came back out and voila! I had what is probably my all-time favorite shot from Dalton....and of a rare C-18 Consolidation at that!
