BARSTOW CA Sept 5 1983 — Santa FE SSB 1229 sits with its stacks capped. EMD built the unit (s/n 18095) in May 1953 as SW9 1429 and delivered it in BSZ livery. After Aug 26 1972 it repainted in blue body with yellow warbonnet livery. In August 1974 it was renumbered to 1429 and was retired on July 18 1979. In November 1979 it was rebuilt as a Switcher San Bernardino 1200, painted again in blue body with yellow warbonnet and renumbered ATSF SSB 1229. After Santa Fe retired the unit it was acquired by the San Diego and Imperial Valley Railroad on Sept 24 1984. All errors are mine. Corrections and additions are welcome. My photo.
