A handsome pair of CNW SD50s, nos. 7005 and 7019 head west at Northport, NE in threatening weather with an empty coal train returning to the Powder River Basin. CNW and UP worked together to give BN competition in the coal basin, and part of the plan was to use UP's line to Scotts Bluff for part of the journey. The SD50s were acquired by CNW using UP specs, thus being the first new power in about 20 years to not feature the traditional CNW gong bell on the nose.
