A four hour late westbound Empire Builder kicks up fresh snow as it hustles under the Williams County Road 5 overpass near old Fort Buford, within a few miles of crossing the Montana state line. Unfortunately, Montana will be as far as it will go due to an avalanche occurring on Marias Pass around the time this photo was taken.
