In March of 1973 one could still find non-BN painted predecessor locomotives, but green was getting a foot hold. Here former GN 424, a factory painted Big Sky Blue SD45 can be compared to BN's cascade green. Both were designed by the same outside design consultants. The EMD nose was a challenge to mask and paint in the blue scheme, and often home made repaints had slightly different angles on the white. This was EMD's version.
