Among the last of their kind anywhere, a worn but still handsome A-B-B-A set of renumbered former New Haven Alco FAs and FBs approaches the junction at Readville, MA, on Penn Central train BL-1, which ran between Boston and Lowell, MA, on a roundabout ex-NH route via Walpole and Framingham. The FAs somehow lasted on this job through 1969, making BL-1 and counterpart LB-2 a local railfan attraction. Unfortunately most of the trip was usually make at night.
