Farewell to the Pacific Parlour Cars. February 2 marked the last northbound departure and February 4 will be the last ever southbound departure before these cars are retired after 26 years of Pacific Parlour Car service. These cars started life as Santa Fe Hi-Level lounge cars, built in 1956, and only served the Santa Fe for 15 years. This shot shows the comfortable swivel chairs that were popular among those reading books or taking in the scenery.
