On April 28th, 2014 Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 departed Union Pacific's West Colton yard and began its journey home to Cheyenne for restoration. Little over 5 years later the City of Cheyenne was witness to a Big Boy under steam and moving under its own power for the first time in 60 years. Having made some back and forth moves in Cheyenne yard (both on May 1st and 2nd) the real 'trial run' began as 4014 shoved east onto the main 3 at W508. Getting a signal at 508 the '4000' is seen charging west into Cheyenne with diesel 8937 on the rear of the support train consist. This history making trail run will ultimately see the 4014 run south to Greeley, CO.
