Pullman Service to San Diego Returns. Cresting the Redondo Flyover on a warm, spring day, Amtrak 580 banks to the east as it leaves Los Angeles behind for its trip to San Diego. Riding behind one of Amtrak California's newly delivered SC-44 "Charger" locomotives is the 1956-built private car "National Forum," owned and operated by the Pacific Railroad Society (PRS). The car made two round trips to San Diego and return on trains 562, 1569, 580 and 591. Since late 1971 the Forum has been a staple of the Los Angeles private car community and is now the "last car standing," in regard to being the last car actually stored in Amtrak's LA yard,
