Amtrak San Joaquin 716 creeps through the S-curves in Ballico, California, because of a report that a crossing gate had been struck by a truck not long because this Oakland to Bakersfield train arrived. The train, with CDTX SC-44 2107 on the rear, is past the affected grade crossing and is accelerating again as it approaches the bridge over the Merced River, after which it then turns left. (BNSF Stockton Subdivision - June 14, 2019)
From one train each way in 1973 between Bakersfield and Oakland when it started up, this line as expanded to six trips daily; four to Oakland and two to Sacramento.
